Peri (pair-ee)

Peri is the deity of travel and wanderlust. She is depicted as a half-elven woman with wind-tossed hair clad in travelers’ clothes and clutching a map. Her symbol is a leaf adrift on the breeze.   Daughter to Kairemos, Peri is young even among the later generations of deities. Her introduction to the pantheon came well after the time of mortals under circumstances unknown to mortals and gods alike.   As god of wanderers, Peri does not stay in one place. From her parent she was given domain over the breeze, and on it she travels easily between Koss, the heavens, the Underworld, and beyond. It is unclear whether she is welcome in the domains of the other deities or they simply do not wish to disrespect her mother, but whatever the case may be she uses these opportunities to go wherever her whims may lead.   Uninterested in staying in one place, temples to Peri are all but non-existent as she is not known to respond to sacrifices in them, and those who hear the voice of Peri are compelled to wander as she does, overtaken or perhaps always having possessed a deep curiosity about the world. That said, it is common for depictions of Peri to be placed on milestones, her hair blowing in the direction of the next destination. It is at these places as well as at crossroads and atop hills that prayers to Peri are heard. Bandits attempting to use her milestones to lure unwitting travelers into ambushes have an uncanny propensity for finding the victim of their attacks to be a traveling hero or even a demigod, leading to a swift end for the bandits.   While travelers, heroes, and adventurers make up her primary worshippers, Peri along with their parent Kairemos are subjects of the mystery cult, Animos Mystirio. While the practices of Animos Mystirio remain unknown, it is speculated they may have a greater insight into Peri’s origins.   Other than her parent, Peri is generally respected by the other members of the Theonínta. Apnosis in particular appreciates her curiosity and the knowledge uncovered by her worshippers. Exa shares the heroes and adventurers that worship Peri, but resents the positive attention she receives from the Theonínta.
