Plume Winder

General Summary

Dreki, M.J, Procella, Kingra   After bringing the new members into the fold Procella decided to introduce them to the Narrative Device, unfortunately for her she was greeted by C135SL and Dedric Eregast. With them in tow they made their way towards the tower housing the device, meeting Kingra who was tinkering with the charging device in the tower’s courtyard. After a short meeting with the Master Goblin, the party entered the Narrative Device using a book of Eragast's choice "Plume Winder", taken from the bookshelf from the landing in the tower’s staircase.    Upon entering the book, the party found themselves helping man a massive ship made of platinum named the Bombardier, that sailed a sea made of lava that stretched out over the horizon. Under the command of the certifiably insane Captain Pike, the party were tasked with ship maintenance and control as the ship sailed in search of a gigantic creature that the captain was obsessed with hunting down. When asked for information about the creature Pike responded with nonsensical ravings.   After rescuing the ship from running aground the party found themselves sailing towards a large volcanic cave thanks to a tip from another crew, inside of which were the remnants of a dragon turtle as well as a hostile salamander. Using the excrement of the turtle, Dreki was able to deduce that the creature was pregnant and with that knowledge the crew concluded they should set sail towards a large lava reef, the closest approximation to a beach like setting available in a lava ocean.   As the Bombardier approached the lava reef the ship and its crew were accosted by Plume Winder, a gigantic dragon turtle that released a slew of volatile magmin onto the deck of the ship. With deckhands manning the cannons the assault began, the captain’s bloodlust driving all of his decisions, he did all he could to take out the creature, including jumping off of the ship and leaping onto the beast itself, ultimately leading to his demise. With control of the ship passing to the second in command, Leo, the remaining skeleton crew of the ship was able to pull ahead of Plume Winder and bombard it with cannon fire, slaying the monster.   Deciding to take the remains of the creatures back with them, the party concluded the story of the book having become renown for slaying the beast of legend, with tales being told about the courageous and competent Captain Leo, while cautionary children’s tales were made about the foolish Captain Peck.   With the story concluded the party awoke inside the tower, surprised to find that Eregast had decided to go into the book himself after the party, leaving C135SL to oversee everyone. The party decided to wait for Eregast to awaken, and with further inspection and discussion with C135SL, discovered that while in the Narrative Devide the pages of the book would flip under magical influence, and that our heroes’ names had been added to the narrative of the book. Ultimately to the dismay of the party it turned out that the sage appeared to have died after entering the book, the reason as to why unknown to the party.
