Maksim, the Adrift
"I recognize you! You're the one that fights like the Aboleth itself! Why waste your time with those unworthy of you"Maksim was a poet, a well educated man who sought scholars and tutors from as many different cultures as he could. His love for foreign knowledge had inspired him to adopt hundreds of captured enemies from afar lands into his armies. He was the first to break away from the traditional way of making war, using horse archers and fire throwers, employing goblin tactics and immitating the reclusive dwarf. Lacking cohesion, his armies were aptly described as nothing more than rival warbands with a single shared goal. Much like the individual dualists that fought for their own glory, Maksim fought mostly for himself, taking great joy in finding those that struggled to fit within their communities. The outsider and the failure were clay, something to be shaped for something far greater. He remained neutral on Vampirism, seeing it as both a blessing and a curse. While he gained the immortality that he longed for, he lost the most important aspect of himself, the ability to connect with the beauty that he saw. The colorful art and strange music of the cultures he saw as beautiful no longer could be felt within his very soul. His emotions have been turned to brutal logic. Surrounding himself with art, and beauty, he looks towards the artist rather than the works that they have done. Unlike some of his brothers, his castle holds very little depictions of himself, but rather is filled with sculptures depicting great and lesser known heroes, of lovers and muses of the sculptor. Bards dance and play their music wildly, though Maksim finds no true joy to be found wherein. Maksim has his old Honor Guard act as messangers, summoning those that have caught his interest, who's tales have been told through ballads. Those deemed worthy are brought to his personal chambers, where in the quiet he makes deals and tries to understand them. He has retained most of his human features, though he uses his flesh changing abilities to ensure no one knows what his true face is.
