Confederation of state-cities of Septrial

Structure

Orcs are a pacifist martial culture, close to nature, living in a city-state around a chief chosen for his strength by the women of the tribe. In their society it is the women who lead, and select the male chief for his strength, but lead the council of the city. Tasks are distributed equally among all, although only male orcs have the right to wage war and fight outside the walls. There are, however, female orcs who want to fight, they are known as Amazons, and often live as citizens of Meridia and not in an orc clan. In the same sense, only women are allowed to learn and practice magic or alchemy. Science and technology, on the other hand, are left more by disinterest and tradition, leaving it to the goblins. Once a year, at the beginning of the summer, the Orc city states meet to discuss aid between the cities and common laws of the Orc people. The warlords all meet as messengers of their respective councils, presenting the list of proposals made by their city; the city that receives is drawn by lot at the end of the meeting, and the cities that have already hosted the confederation cannot be drawn by lot for five years, so that each city has its chance.

Culture

In the same sense, only women are allowed to learn and practice magic or alchemy. Science and technology, on the other hand, are left more by disinterest and tradition, leaving it to the goblins. The Orcs specialise in the construction of stone and wooden fortresses; in the great plains, and on mountainsides. They are gifted at forging, and use nature to their advantage, training wild animals such as hairy trolls, tigers or horses. Today, if they did not force themselves to live in seclusion, they would surely be as powerful as the elves, they might even have invaded us, and be the most important race in Merida.

History

Orc history is rather confused and difficult to trace. They themselves have few collections of their past. All that is known is that they are more or less the ancestors of the other three races, and that they explored the whole continent, and the Akeidre Islands, and even the continent of Az'atmas. It was the exploration of this continent that led Orc culture and history to its loss; bringing the dragons back with them to the territory of Septrial, they were enslaved, destroyed. It was through their strength and determination that they managed to hold the dragons in Septrial, giving free rein to the war between elves and humans. During the fall, it was the dwarves who, by rising to the surface, helped the orcs to free themselves completely from their chains.

Territories

Seprial is a vast icy steppe dotted with coniferous and evergreen trees, with several mountains much lower than the Pyrenean chain. There are numerous lakes, most of them frozen, and a large coast extended by ice floes of varying sizes throughout the year. The capital, Orshk, is located on the highest peak of the Ashtai massif, rising to 530 metres. The second largest massif is that of Royz'Kaza, the giant city of goblins, which, although it has no active volcano, produces a quantity of smoke comparable to that of dwaven factories.

Important cities

Orshk-kalma, the fortress of meetings, in which the other cities meet during the councils of warlords. It was chosen as the main city because of its port position, connected to the kingdom of Alkalia. Kard'harim, a fortress with a tragic destiny, home of the witch Kenariah before the fall, place of siege during the resurrection of Shaar, this fortress has known the worst nightmares. Today it remains one of the most flourishing fortresses of the Orc confederation, due to the nearby lake and forest. Port-Boros, located on the edge of the continent, has suffered an unenviable fate... trapped in the ice, attacked by vampires, then used as a landmark for the cult of the void and the witch Kenariah. It was a very famous fishing port, but also the base for exploration of the frozen continent of boros. Royz'kaza is the most industrialized of the Orc cities, transformed into a veritable giant laboratory, where goblins test their most unstable technology. Situated in the centre of the land, close to the frozen zone, a hundred kilometres from Port-boros; built on the edge of a lake on the mountainside, surrounded by a forest. Legend has it that even though the massif is flat and without a volcano, you can still see smoke escaping from it.

Religion

Orcs worship communion with nature. Today, since the fall, this religion has made them cross the path of cursed animals and plants, whose blood (or sap and fruit), once drunk or eaten, gives them the strength and features of wild animals. Orc shamans are the guardians of the mysteries of Lycan nature, and learn the secret language of the spirits, to transform their words into magic. When the replica of the fall arrived, the natural fauna of the continent was gradually tinged with aberrations known as cursed creatures; animals that had evolved to the anthropomorphic stage through magic and Orc beliefs, increasing their strength, resistance and senses tenfold; in both animals and plants, these creatures are fearsome, but not necessarily aggressive. By extension, any thinking creature that is not part of the four races (human, dwarves, elves and orcs) can be falsely called a lycan (Shalzaks or tritons sometimes). A large number of cursed animals, including wolves, bears and wild boars, which have come together in one large community in the mountain forests between Septrial and Oriaka, between wolves, bears and wild boars, and tend to settle down (their 'village' consists of a pile of dolmens and mattresses of dried leaves), and also hunt normal animals for food.

Nature feeds us, we listen to it.
