The party travels for several days, with Gilthanas' crew joining them. After some searching they run into a draconian beating up a young women, who Gilthanas recognises as Laurana. The party saves her and she recovers fairly fast, meaning she is able to immediately jump to helping them navigate. They find the prison where some of the women are being kept, and discover Elistan on deaths doorstep, where Goldmoon rushes to heal him. Upon seeing her healing magic, his faith in the gods is restored, and he becomes a follower of Mishakal alongside with Goldmoon, officially joining the party. The party hatch a plot to scope out the castlle.
It's revealed that the men are ready to fight, and the women ready to flee, however the main issue is the children who have been entrusted to an ancient red dragon called Flamestrike. Usually, some of the women are taken to help care for the kids, however they'd need a draconian escort to take them. Alphy proposes that since he's of a similar size and stature to the Draconians, that he can shapeshift to appear as one. The party would crossdress and go rescue the kids, and the women would take them and flee whilst the men attacked. Alphy managed to deceive the draconians the whole time, and they managed to collect the kids from Flamestrike. The party realised that the old dragon was crazy and near blind, and that she did genuinely care for the kids much to their surprise. The plan went perfectly, up until Riverwind tripped, revealing the fact he was a man to Flamestrike who began attacking the party. Pernicious ended up grabbing a kid and threatening to kill them if Flamestrike attacked, causing her to stop but grow distressed. Perncicious gave Alphy the kid and told him to continue threatening, though Alphy's true monstrous form was enough to upset Flamestrike.
The party would flee with the kids, meeting up with the women and men. Verminaard would finally reveal himself to the party, going on a booming rant about the prisoners and then attacking them. Flamestrike saw this and decided to turn on him, as she loved the kids more then the dragon army. She would attack Verminaard and his dragon mount Ember, allowing the party to flee with the prisoners, now refugees, out into the Abanasinia Wilderness.
