Whilst trapped, Alphy notices Laurana is very down and sad. Nobody in the party knows how to approach her so he tries, and the two end up having a heart to heart and Alphy tries to cheer her up. He lets her know he knows about her situation and can relate, and that they'll beat up Gilthanas and help her family to see she's cool too. He also expresses his opinion on their behaviour and tells her it wasn't her fault she got kidnapped, her parents were being stupid. Laurana seems to appreciate Alphy's attempt at cheering her up. Meanwhile, the party attempts to plan an escape. Alphy works out where their gear is and how to escape, however nearly gets caught so comes back. He alters his form to appear as an elf with two arms and tries again at the parties request, where he's arrested (Again) by guards. However, they only handcuff his two visible hands so he's able to easily escape again when put back with the party. Alphy tries to convince the guards to let him speak to the Speaker, or even Gilthanas. They end up getting Gilthanas who treats the party and Laurana coldly. That night, John decides to escape. He flees, taking the orb (Which at the time was with the other equipment). He ends up escaping in engaging in a 2 day long sprint across Ergoth, being pursued by multiple elven hunting parties. He ends up getting cornered and has gone fully mad - he ends up getting killed by them, and the orb is returned. The party hears news of John's death, however they had no time to grieve. After some time, Theros ends up assisting the party to escape one night, expressing his dissatisfaction with the elves as they are preparing to go to war with one another when it's completely avoidable. The party splits into three teams. Alphy will get gear, someone will go find the dragon orb, and the remaining party members will wait. Lauarana volunteers to get the orb and says it will be in her parents room now after John's ordeal. She uses her royal status to get past the guards and take it whilst her parents sleep. She returns and gives it to Alphy, stating that he's the best one to keep it. They then flee, eventually meeting up with Silvart. The Qualinesti elves are alerted and pursue the party.
