Mossfright
Slehean tea-making techniques utilizing moss have inspired more experimentation around the world with different kinds of moss. Great use has been found in a certain tropical species known as yellowscale.
When consumed medicinally, yellowscale tea enhances the healing process to a lesser degree than a standard healing potion or spell, but it's much easier to obtain and works well in a pinch. However, it has an anxiety-inducing side effect, which can make it difficult to further treat a patient. This phenomenon, known as mossfright, heightens a person's general state of nervousness, and may cause them to act irrationally. People react to their induced fear in different ways, but most healers restrain the patients they treat with yellowscale tea just to be safe, as they sometimes may lash out or try to run away.
It excites the mind and causes one to overthink. Physically, mossfright can cause a tightened chest and a lightheaded feeling. In extreme cases, one might experience mild hallucinations. Due to these unpleasant effects, yellowscale isn't generally used for recreational purposes.
Another notable use of yellowscale is in "negotiations." It's not unheard of to slip someone a small dose of yellowscale essence to make them feel uneasy and take rasher decisions. Some interrogators will also give their subject a strong case of mossfright to pressure them into releasing information without physically harming them.
Apothecaries haven't yet found other medicines or herbs that counter the effects of mossfright. The effects are generally mild enough to to ride out for the hour or so the benefits kick in. A resistance to the mental tax of yellowscale can be built up with enough exposure, but this is an unpleasant process to do intentionally.
