Qeshite Culture: Directional Personality

In the Qesh Dynasty, people's personalities are often broken down into a binary between left and right. These personality categories are called sinistral and dextral, for left and right respectively. Originally, these terms were heavily tied to someone's dominant hand, but have somewhat lost that original connection. Now it mostly describes how a person is likely to act, or what someone thinks about a certain action. Each of these terms have positive and negative connotations, and whether meant to insult or compliment is entirely dependent on context.

Sinistral (Left)

Someone who is sinistral prefers to act based on their wits. Whether they are intelligent or just good with words, they avoid direct confrontations. However, someone who is dextral could also be said to be sneaky, untrustworthy, or spineless. The term can also be used to describe actions rather than people. For example, a warrior who comes up with a plan to ensnare an enemy can be said to have had a sinistral plot.

Dextral (Right)

Someone who is dextral acts with their strength. If someone is dextral, they brave and straightforward, even if they aren't physically imposing. In a less negative light, dextral can be used to describe a person who is bullheaded or oafish. Alternatively, these definitions could be applied to someone's actions. For example, a sinistral person could still have a particularly dextral standoff with someone.
