Dunklas grew up as a houseless, worthless Drow in the city of Gloomspite. His parents were executed by the queen for being quietly supportive of the Cult of Eilistraee. Ruled by house Shaen, the city was a place entirely dominated by the matriarchy. Males were given the most lowly jobs imaginable, yet somehow Dunklas found himself with the fortunate task of maintaining the equipment of the royal guard. He was strictly forbidden to learn any kind of martial art, yet still endeavored to do so in secret. It wasn't long, though, before he was caught by Xenra, princess of the city and heiress to the house of Shaen. She was a compassionate sort as well as being a secret worshipper of Eilistraee, and as such decided to train him instead of dooming him to death. As the two spent time together, they eventually fell in love. Xenra, who hated the Drow way of life, created a plan to try and free this city from her evil mother's grasp. She and Dunklas joined a group of Eilistraee worshippers and eventually constructed a plot to kill the queen and hopefully bring about a new era for this city. Along the way they were married, and Dunklas became a master of the bow and survivalism. Their plot was carried out, and the queen was assassinated, but their plot was eventually rewarded by the vengeance of those who supported the queen. They soon found themselves in the afterlife, being cheated out of the happy life they had fought for.
