The Moon

The first sphere is associated with the Moon. Just as the Moon waxes and wanes, souls that come to the moon as associated with inconstancy. Deficient in the virtue of fortitude, these are souls that while mostly good, were unable to fully devote themselves to it because of a lack of commitment to the cause. Once a vow is made to a God, the vow should be kept unless keeping that vow would serve a greater evil.
The Moon itself is a dark and cold place, as it merely reflects @Sun off it's surface. However, these facts do not make it less hospitable.
