Sahra Abdul III
Emperor Sahra Abdul
Emperor Sahra Abdul III was a militant ruler, making use of the Saltkrigere immediately upon rising to power. He had spent most of his mother's career on her council, making plans with the court about what action should be taken for the empire immediately upon her death. Given this inclination for planning and notoriety among the court members, Abdul's ordination was swift. the court agreed with most of his actions, perhaps because he was the first emperor to consult them during planning. The council on the other hand was usually left neglected, as he had seen them spend their careers like vultures scavenging any power and opportunity his mother provided. While he kept the council employed out of tradition, most assume that he would have fired them, if he didn't believe in the need for tradition to be upheld.
His first major action as emperor was to send a Saltkrigere blockade several miles off of the coast of Caripreet. A letter was sent to the council of the city that any ships crossing the waters would be boarded and commandeered, unless Caripreet ended its resolve against joining the empire. Any comings and goings of goods between the empire and Caripreet were halted while the waters would prevent outgoing trade with Kala or those at Urrlógun. In this time, several J'barri trade ships were commandeered, costing the empire relations with the skilled peoples of Renad in order to assimilate the last territory of Trinen. This lasted for twelve months before Caripreet finally folded.
In the last decade of his career, he focused on standardizing legislation between every territory: an impossible task. His failures informed the Augury's ventures in legislation, showing them that local legislation should be decided by the locals, while only a few core rules should be maintained. His over focus on legislation and its spread would be the death of him. He took to venturing in year-round travels to spread and explain the laws he put into place, as well as the justification behind them. His traveling scribes noted that many of the commonfolk did not understand who he was, believing that Bailum was the emperor. Their lack of understanding gave way to harsh criticism, which he took with heavy heart. This decade would put stress on the emperor until the "anxieties stopped his heart," as one of the scribes wrote. It took a month for word to reach Saint's Maar and three more weeks for the succession to finalize, leaving his absence as the longest period the Saltkrigere Empire had gone without a leader. His successor would be
