The Urrfolk are a people characterized by tribulation. Originating from Gaddon Island within the Fingerless Gulf, the Urrfolk were first discovered by humanity before the advent of empires. Living peaceful lives on the island, the Urrfolk would eventually be hunted by a group of humans that became the modern day Heisel Family. With Urrfolk sapience unknown, they would be hunted for generations before a group would be captured and delivered to Euvurcrest for the construction of a private hunting ground. Fortunately for those captured, a fire broke out and the Urrfolk fled; eventually those Urrfolk inhabited the Northlends, Fjordstrond, and the Icelends. While they faced a short population boom outside of their native island, the Urrfolk quickly became scapegoats for society's ills. Today (ca. 1947 NG), Urrfolk are unable to gain citizenship in the Augury and are unprotected from hunting in all nations. The closest exception to their poor treatment is Fjordstrond, which allows the Urrfolk short term protection in exchange for continued labor within the capital of Jökulstífla.
The Urrfolk (ogres, trolls, and giants) are believed to have descended from Eithun and Gaddon Urr, the Brother Gluts. Most treat Urrfolk poorly as they continue to spread northeast from their original island home within the Fingerless Gulf, though their exodus was forced due to hunting established by the denizens of Eldurgrund. They usually live in isolated areas away from established towns but are always the first blamed when misfortune hits a nearby civilized territory. Even today, they are still hunted as scapegoats for society's wrongs.
The only place, at present, where they can break bread with humans would be the Icelends and choice areas of Fjordstrond. Their great strength and reasonably precise hands make them fantastic for building the great machinations of the barony. In return, they are given icons to display around the isolated homes that denote them as "protected" from hunting.
