Fjordstrond

Fjordstrond is a labyrinthian city in which people live in homes carved down into the cliffs of the canals. Others live on top in small homes, typically owning large portions of land for livestock to graze. Fjordstrond is known for its technological innovations over the other baronies of Trinen, due to its long lineage of scholars of all sorts calling the city home. They are most typically known for their feats of architecture and engineering above all else.   Much of the city is carved deep within the cliffs, while exposed regions that overlook fjords tend to compose of living rooms or other lounging areas. Fires keep the area warm at night, and as such require a complicated system of ventilation, carved upwards like a chimney into the grassy fields above. This ventilation has been exploited during times of war, but will generally only bring harm to commonfolk.   At the bottom of the fjords, one may find several docks and bridges, specially designed to raise up or fold in depending on levels of traffic to deeper portions of the city. At the top of the Fjords, long and magnificent bridges connect the open lands together.   At the ends of the fjords lay large glaciers used for varying purposes depending on which fjord they fall to. Some contain runoff of purified ore carried from long inactive volcanos.   Other fjords/glaciers which move at a slower rate contain burrows where researchers may move beyond Fjordstrond and into the Icelends or mountain ranges. These also serve for good fishing spots for rare and highly sought after lakefish that dwell deep beneath the ocean.   Some glaciers serve as burials sites for the dead royals of Fjordstrond, but only the coldest and purest white glaciers are selected for this honor.
