The Yunbad-J'barri prisoner pact

Cultural event

818 B.E.

Beginning of formal prisoner trade between J'barri and Yunbad.

The kidnapping of Yunbad citizens was eventually witnessed by Yunbad citizens and reported to the YTC. The high priests came out of hiding and made contact with the J'barri warriors. Some J'barri managed to get magically inclined slaves and knew it was best to avoid a fight. Seeing weapons of iron, the Yunbad felt the same. The leaders were able to come to a reasonable agreement: the slave trade would become a "prisoner trade" and would be a formalized process. Further, the J'barri could mine the lower, outer mountains but would have to pay a toll.   This "prisoner trade" ended up being a warped political play on the side of the Yunbad. Rather than prisoners, the Yunbad would send "overpromising" and potentially heretical disciples and acolytes. The acolytes in question were told that they would be going on an enlightening expedition. This play kept the high priests in power but it wasn't without its consequences, seeing as almost every Yunbad slave was now magically inclined. J'barri were still foreign to magic at the time and were now being given access via slaves.   A mosaic was created in the name of Nil Hra by the name of "His Word." It was part of the stone roads which housed the Yunbad slave lodging. It was meant to serve as a reminder that the Yunbad were there legally. This mosaic was later scorched by Yunbad slaves. It has been restored and moved to a museum.
