Anlatai, Council of Yuzana
Centuries ago, when the serpent folk ruled over Yuzana, an elf hero led a daring rebellion against the serpent folk's tyranny, successfully driving them out of Yuzana and reclaiming the kingdom for its inhabitants. After the liberation, the elf hero now called the Serpent King, envisioned a new era for Yuzana, one that would utilize the kingdom's serpent folk heritage and embrace the darkness within. Recognizing the power and knowledge left behind by the serpent folk, the hero sought to harness their secrets for the betterment of the kingdom. To accomplish this vision, the Serpent King gathered a group of skilled individuals from within his rebellion, each with expertise in different fields. This group formed the foundation of what would become the Antalai Council.
Recognizing the need for wise counsel and expertise, the Serpent King formalized the council, naming it the Anlatai, meaning "Wiser Men" in the serpent folk language, a mocking reference to the serpent folk viziers called Anlao, or "Wise Men". The council aimed to advise the Serpent King on governance, magic, military strategy, and other crucial aspects essential for the kingdom's flourishing.
Each council member swears an oath of loyalty to the Serpent King, pledging to put the kingdom's interests above their own and to serve with integrity and dedication. Their commitment was bound by duty and the powerful magic woven into the council's founding. Over time, the Anlatai evolved, adapting to the kingdom's changing needs and the Serpent King's wicked whims.
To the public, the Analatai is a collection of wise and powerful advisors who may one day be picked to succeed the Serpent King and take the throne. However, in private, they serve as the Serpent King's apprentices, hoping they will be chosen to be his next host for his eternal, body-snatching rule as King.
