Serpent King of Yuzana
The first Serpent King, initially an elf hero named Gareca, led a successful uprising against the Serpent folk and liberated Yuzana from its oppressive rule. Under Gareca's leadership, the subsequent establishment of a new order, The Anlatai, was celebrated throughout the kingdom.
The First King
Gareca ruled for centuries and outlived many of those who witnessed his revolution. After hundreds of years under his rule, Gareca grew old, and the Yuzan people grew weary of his leadership. The Serpent folk were once known for their mastery of dark magic, and traces of this knowledge still lingered within Yuzana. Gareca wanted to solidify his position as ruler of Yuzana, and by co-opting the symbology and dark magic of the serpents, he capitalized on the lingering fear and fascination with snakes that the serpent folk once invoked. This tyrannical spin bought Gareca more time as ruler, but as the First Era crept nearer to its end and the growing worldwide disdain for magocracies, Gaerca foresaw himself being subject to an imminent revolution. With a vile initiative, the Serpent King manipulated a young man from Yuzana into becoming a leader of the opposition against him. Gareca, in coordination with the Anlatai Council, secretly guided the revolution to act against him while he prepared his ultimate magic.The Necrocoil
The most powerful artifact left behind by the ancient serpent folk was left untouched by Gareca because of the dangers of testing it. The Necrocoil was said to possess the ability to steal a person's body to be used as a replacement if the Necrocoil's wielder were to perish. Upon the day the revolutionaries broke into the Serpent King's castle, Gareca unleashed the Necrocoil upon their puppet leader in a hidden chamber. The man's body was consumed by the Necrocoil and harnessed the energy to shed his elven body like snakeskin. Tearing through his old flesh, he emerged in his new body and retained all of his memories and magical prowess. Gareca, now bearing the appearance of a successful kingslayer, emerged from the chamber and claimed victory for his revolution. The Anlatai Council coordinated with members of the resistance to instate the new savoir of Yuzana as a glorious king.King Eternal
The Serpent King continued to utilize the Necrocoil to maintain his power for the entirety of the Second Age and guided Yuzana through famine, drought, and invasions. The king allocates many duties to the Anlatai, and his public appearances are limited to religious ceremonies. The Serpent King relies on the expertise of council members to effectively implement new laws, initiatives, or strategies so that he may spend his time researching and practicing the dark magic left behind by the serpent folk.
