The Bident of Trininoc (Trih-nih-nock)

The second known piece of Soul Silver entered the world in 184 EM after the tragic death of the dragon Treninoc the Bright.

Origins

Treninoc was defeated while defending his mage followers of the Azurine Tower. His son, Raellinoc, had cursed Trininoc causing the good dragon's form to slowly dematerialize. By his final effort Treninoc was able to his son's army before his body disappeared. The Azurine Mages, fraught at his vanishing, found a silver object resembling the horns of Treninoc where he once lay. The mages fashioned the horns into a bident tip and dubbed the new staff the Bident of Treninoc.
Capable of throwing up massive walls of ice to protect the tower from intruders, the bident was a formidable weapon. However, the end of the first era proved that even the greatest of tools was unable to stop the destruction of the Azurine Tower during the the fall of the Towers of Magic.. The bident was lost when the tower fell at the start of the second age and was later rediscovered by Triskelion mages in 699 ER.

Modern Use

The Bident of Trininoc was a subject of great curiosity among the scholars at The Triskelion School for Mages. Decades of paleontological digs at the ruins of the Azurine Tower revealed the origins of the staff, but the debate on what to do with the device lasted for decades more. Most members of the school debated that should they engage in the use of the weapon it would taint the image of their organization in the eyes of the common citizens. Should the public come to view the Triskelion as an oppressively organization willing to freeze out the world then the school could come to meet the same fate as the original Azurine Tower.
On the other hand, their detractors believed that the device should be used as necessary in the field; a powerful weapon to deploy when most needed. A device of adequate would allow the school to protect innocents and subdue evil doers.
In the end, the bident became archived deep into the tower's basement levels never to be fully utilized.
