The Warp

The Warp in the Obberic Highlands results from a manaquake  near the end of the first age caused by a mage's tower whose name has been forgotten by history. The Warp occurs every 25 years, marking the area's magical upheaval. This periodicity has become essential to the region's culture, and inhabitants have adapted their lives accordingly. While The Warp follows a general 25-year cycle, its timing is not always precise. Some instances have occurred months earlier or later, leading to speculation and anticipation among Triskelion scholars and Corvalus residents alike. During The Warp, specific areas within the Obberic Highlands become "Anomaly Zones." These zones are hotspots of magical disturbances, and each Warp may affect different areas of the region, making it hard to predict the exact locations.   The anomalies triggered by The Warp can range from awe-inspiring to perilous. Each event is a spectacle of magical unpredictability, from floating boulders and dancing auroras to uncontrolled firestorms. The presence of The Warp makes spellcasting within the affected regions extremely risky. Even seasoned mages may struggle to control their magic, leading to unintended consequences or backfiring spells.

The Triskelion's Research

In the leadup to each cycle of the Warp, the Triskelion sends a team of Tower Mages, experienced researchers, professors, and skilled students, to ensure the research stations are fully equipped. These research stations are a hub for magical scholars and students during The Warp. Located in the heart of Corvalus, the stations act as a base for observations, data collection, and analysis.   The Triskelion enforces strict safety protocols to protect students and researchers during field trips to the Anomaly Zones. Special magical barriers and protective enchantments are erected to minimize the risk of exposure to the chaotic energies. The Triskelion rotates students into the area in carefully planned field trips to provide educational opportunities while ensuring safety. Each group spends only a limited time within the Anomaly Zones, experiencing the magic firsthand under the guidance of experienced mages.   Students attending the field trips participate in research projects, assisting professors and scholars in collecting data, documenting observations, and analyzing the magical anomalies. The Warp becomes an extraordinary learning experience for young mages eager to expand their knowledge.
