Longingbent Tree
The Longingbent tree is a tree endemic to the island of Nehziimdehl, growing in a singular swamp. It's said that the first of this species came about when a young man, lost in his memories after a great loss, grieved in the swamp and stayed so still his skin began to turn to bark, his legs to roots, his arms to branches, and left only the shape of a face in the trunk. The tree grows its leaves on long willowlike branches, with a gentle bluish green hue. When touched, these leaves look to the holder like memories, photographs of a different time. For most this is an experience that will still them, leaving them sitting beneath its branches and contemplating the leaves the same way the fabled young man did till they also pass on or are pulled out of it, but for some they can handle the memories without becoming engrossed, and the tree is a wholly pleasant experience. Because of its soothing properties, Strix hospitals make use of its leaves to help their patients through painful times, and when ground up, tends to act as a depressant, lessening physical pain while calming the mind into a relaxed, comfortable state, one which wears off after the leaves have gone fully through the system in around 8 hours, with minimal side effects.
