Edan Nehziimdehl
Land of the Forgotten and Lost
This is the continent many fables are based around, since it became known. It is shrouded constantly by a thick, magical fog, and the ocean surrounding it is often unquiet. However, some feel a natural pull to it, these being the people who had lost things, or forgotten things which they sought to have back. The land is filled with strange creatures and monsters. The island is impossible to access by boat, and must be walked to on the leaves of Kela's Lily , a kind of giant water lily that flowers once every five years. During their short blooming time, the flowers themselves produce a chemical that allows people to see through the fog, allowing passage. However, after inhalation the chemical only allows sight for approximately 10 minutes before its effect is dulled to uselessness, and it takes roughly a day before the chemical will produce the same effect on the brain again.History
Ancient references exist of the island once being attached to the large continent just to the east, right where you all set sail to get to Nehziimdehl, and back then it was simply a village in a mountainous forest beside other villages in forested areas. However, legend has it the people of the small village wished for a space of their own, separate from the way the other villages seemed to keep growing, so Kela offered them a deal: in 64 days she would separate the village from the rest of the world. She promised she would make sure that, while their home may still be as interesting as it always was, for back then there was still the Wish, outsiders would not stay as much as they did everywhere else, and that they could stay private in this. Those who did not want to be away from the rest of the world said their tearful goodbyes and headed out for the open road-- many of their descendants still reside in Finavis to this day.
Those who remained felt the way the earth shifted on the 64th day, a great earthquake as land broke from land, and the sea rushed in between them. They felt the way magic swirled thick in the air like clouds, the air damp and heavy and making much of the nature in the area wilder, though things seemed to generally ignore the natives of the land. They felt their bodies remold themselves, itching skin on their backs giving way to budding wings. They saw as a thick fog rolled in, and saw as beams of light broke through that fog, like a hand reaching from the heavens, and touched their land, spreading energy through each of them and blessing them with sight, a promise that the fog would not affect them.
