Canine Predators

Less wide-ranging than their Feline counterparts, canine predators on Lasair are mostly limited in range to the north. They prefer to hunt in packs that chase down prey across long distances, wearing their targets down with repeated attacks and fear tacticts. They can be found where the weather is cool, where the space is wide and open, and the sounds of their howls or barks will carry long distances.
The most well-known examples are the shadow wolves of the Il'yria. Ranging out from the forest to hunt in the shadows of night, these favored creatures of Fae and Elves alike are respected and honored as the apex hunters of the north. Small packs of the wolves will patrol the boundaries of the forest from the Northwall Mountains to the Stonetooth Mountains, running down the large shaggy herbivores of the north as well as the occasional lost Halfling that wandered too far from their farm.   Relatives of the shadow wolves stalk the tundra of the High Ice, roving in bands seeking prey. It's uncertain what they find up here, but given the harshness of the environment and the continued survival of the wolves, there must be some fearsomely tough prey animal for them to hunt.
To the south, where the woods have thinned out and instead grasslands spread out to the horizon, the flatlander dogs run. Tracking migrating herds, cutting out the weak or young for their prey, the flatlander dog packs can be heard barking and yipping from behind tall grasses. Spooking the herds and then swooping in to nip at the heels of their targets, these cunning predators can be seen all around the Shattered Peak, and are a frequent site for the few travelers traversing the pass between the eastern mountains at the edge of The Great Plateau.
