Standing within a clearing in the
Britwood Forest are three tall plinths of pure white granite. Carved within the stone, each in one of the primary languages of the
City-States Region, are the words of the seven primary laws of the land: the
Lasair Compact.
The Shrine
The Shrine of the Compact is a wide space, cleared from within the
Britwood Forest, with a small shallow pond surrounded by the three granite stones showing the words of the Compact. The clearing is about an hour's walk into the forest - far enough in that only the sounds of the forest can be heard there but not so far that it is a hardship for visitors to reach. Other than during the Midsummer Festival, the clearing rarely has any gathering of people - the shrine is not one that draws many visitors, certainly not to the degree of the
Shrine of the Virtues.

The Sink the words of the
Lasair Compact are carved into them, one each in High common, Arcana, and Lumina.
Midsummer Festival
The clearing is large enough to hold the yearly Festival of the Compact that is celebrated at Midsummer each year. The festival is open to any citizen of the City-States, no matter one's station. In practice however it is only generally attended by nobles from within the cities: common folk don't tend to care quite so much about the Compact while the nobility considers the festival a prime opportunity for meeting and plotting and politicking. Many business deals are agreed to under the trees surrounding the shrine.
The days around this festival are also some of the busiest of the year in the city of
Britor as traveling wealthy make their way to the east. Midsummer is also considered an auspicious time to premiere a new production, at least among the more superstitious within the theater community.
