List of Species in the Tethys Islands
The more I explore Permari and its neighbouring islands, the more I find the life on Earth fascinating. It's so diverse, with complex ecosystems and surprisingly intelligent species.
Saurians are the only sapient species on the planet at this time. They live in large tree villages as they are an arboreal species, which helps protect them from ground-level predators such as Tyrannosaurus Superior.
Tyrannosaurus Superior
Tyrannosaurus Superior is the largest predatory dinosaur species on Permari, measuring at 15 metres in length and 5 metres in height.
Europasaurus
Europasaurus is a small-ish sauropod species found on many different islands in the Tethys Island chain. They are semi-aquatic, as they enjoy swimming between islands in large herds.
Archaeopteryx
Archaeopteryx is an intelligent feathered dinosaur found on every single island in the Tethys Island chain. They are considered pets to saurians, and are trained to perform many unique tasks that the larger saurians cannot achieve.
Rhamphorhynchus is a common pterosaur species found flying around the coasts of the various islands. They are a piscivore, and primarily consume fish. They are even tamable if you feed them enough, which I've seen many saurians do.
Pterodactylus
Pterodactylus is another common pterosaur species found around the Tethys Islands. They are again a coastal pterosaur species, and they frequently engage in aerial fights against rhamphorhynchuses.
Liopleurodon is the largest marine reptile I am aware of in the Tethys Ocean. They reach around 8 - 10 metres in length, and are apex predators. They are a pliosaur, a subset of plesiosaurs with shorter necks and larger heads, this particular one with black and white scales across their bodies to help them blend in with the dark waters.
Ammonite
Ammonites are a worldwide species, and are easily recognisable. They grow anywhere from a few centimetres to a few metre in diameter. They are a common prey item for predatory reptile species, such as liopleurodons.
Ichthyosaurus
Ichthyosaurus is a common ichthyosaur species found in large shoals in the Tethys Ocean, in the warmer waters around the islands. They are very fast swimmers, and have feeding methods similar to Earth's modern-day dolphins, where they corner fish in very shallow waters, and pick them off one by one.
