General Summary
After meeting back up the party decided to speak with
Lord Razzle Dazzle , the Grand Arcanist. He gave them some more clues as to what their tattoos are, then pointed them in the direction of Thagtree, to which they'd need the help of either
Queen Arya or
Maeri Oscella. Afterwards they visited the Guard Building, then decided to answer a local help request.
The Grand Arcanist
Taking the advice of the barkeep the group traveled to the Central Ring to seek out the Grand Arcanist, Lord Razzle Dazzle. There they found a very eccentric fairy, and though the interaction was difficult he was able to tell them a few things. First was that there was in fact one person in Ismira's history who also had a moving tattoo, a man named Avrael. Though his was not an hourglass, but instead a tree with falling leaves. He gained this tattoo after travelling to Thagtree Thicket, and after learning this the paarty resolved to travel there themselves. Though Razzle Dazzle informed them that to enter you needed permission from either Queen Arya or the Grand General, Maeri Oscellla. The party decided to ask Maeri Oscella, as they thought she'd be easier to reach.
Ismira Guard Headquarters
The party decided to go to the Ismira Guard Headquarters with the thought that its likely where Maeri would be. There they met the secretary who was incredibly stressed. Through yet another very difficult conversation that resulted in Paathio having to step outside for air, they did learn that Maeri's pet basilisks Noodle, Doodle, and Strudel were missing. In fact that was the very reason that the secretary was so stressed; it seems that Maeri was putting a lot of pressure on the guardsmen to find these basilisks. The party realized that they had found basilisk tracks on the way into Ismira. Making the connection that these were probably those of Noodle, Doodle, and Strudel, the party realized they now had some leverage. With that in their backpocket they then decided to answer a help request Rexis had seen earlier in the day.
The Flail Snail
This help request took them to Rentali Farm, where they were told about a snail that was eating the farm's crops at night. The party then had a stakeout, during which time there was also a bit of a heart to heart between Paathio and Azarik. After a couple hours of waiting they saw the snail, and realizing it hadn't seen them, they decided to send Dart to try to get the drop on it. This turned out to be a mistake though, as even being taken surprise it was able to avoid Dart's attacks. The party then engaged it in proper battle, and due to seemingly reflective properties of its shell along with the failed sneak attack Dart was almost killed. Thankfully though, the quick thinking of Paathio saved her, and in the end the party was able to defeat the beast.
