Academia

Academia is a city based around the academy of higher magic. The long and straight roads are generally well kept and and most of the houses are 2 stories high and made of a sand colored stone. High up in the city is the academy overlooking the sea and smaller academy buildings cover the cliffside down to the water. To the east of the academy is the harbor lies. Here the streets looks more like the harbor streets of any city, filled with litter, wasted sailors in the street gutter and whores standing in doorways hoping to please the needs of others for a small penny. The most south eastern part of the city is called the City of Gnomes. Just North to the City of Gnomes is the Eastern Wall, the darkest place of the city. North of the easter wall lies a big district called the Eastern Gate. The eastern gate is where most non humans live and this is the place you want to go to find weird curiosities from other cultures and specialists of arts not common to man. The main street is the main district of Academia. It consists of the actual main street and a lot of smaller streets, all filled with shops and taverns. The north eastern gate is a cozy little district filled with tiny shops around a cobblestone square. Many children play around here or try to sell flowers to visitors coming in thru the North Eastern gate. Little Lu is a tiny district consisting of quite a lot of taverns, inns and other places to feast, drink and socialise. All of the are packed together really close and most of both the night and they you here music and laughter on these streets. Hemnan is where most people have there homes, if they not have there home on their second floor of a shop in another district. The streets of Hemnan is during the days populated by children out playing and various people doing errands. Here and there you can see a cat watching over the children or a cat sniffing around. The north wall is a long but small district right between hemnan and the city wall Another small but long district is the north western gate which lies just west too the north hemnan Dialen lies before the Academy and west of the Main Street. One of the largest district is the West Gate. Akadia, the finest of districts, lies so close to the academy you could have mistaken Akadia as part of it. In this district white houses with murals of mythical creatures, the four elements and beautiful flowers stand in flowery gardens. Only the richest live here, often parts of noble houses with arcane powers. Adalena Aisab Afeana, meaning “The home of thousands of friends” is a graveyard 1 kilometer from Academia. It is often just called Adalena by the people of Academia.

Demographics

80% is humans, 5% gnomes, 3% halflings, 2% half elfs and the rest a mix of half orchs, elfs and dwarfes. There is also a few Sapphire Sulits and occasionally 1 or 2 Topaz sulits travelers.
Around 10’000 of the city population is a part of the academy and therefor around 20% of the city are trained in the arcane arts.

History

The city was a good port town before the The Academy of Higher Magic was established and it turned into the metropolis of arcane. The transition from a major port town to the metropolis of the arcane happened bewteen 300 BP and 250 BP.

Architecture

Most of the buildings in Academia was made out of dark brown wood, being made in the same style as the harbor.
