Wyvern
Distant relatives of Dragons. These lesser wyrms are often mistaken for them and True Dragons take offense to that.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Wyverns have a serpentine body that is held upright by four limbs. The hind limbs are bird-like with large hooked talons. The front evolved to be a pair of large, leathery, bat-like wings. The span of them are three times the length of the wyrm's body from the snout to the tip of the tail. The head is very dragon-like with long, thin snouts and adorned with horns. The tip of the tail is armed with a javelin-like spike, which gives the beast its name. The spike secretes venom that is similar in composition to those of pit vipers. More venom glands are in the mouth, but produces a chemical that reacts to the air by igniting into a small burst of fire.
