The Shrine, Part 3
The party used the last of their spell slots and health to take out the last four orcs before returning to the cave and resting.
When they returned to the shrine, they came upon a half-orc paladin who was fighting the last remaining orc. He introduced himself as Gunmar, a paladin of the orc god of revenge Hoar, and explained how he was on a mission to get vengeance on this tribe because they had betrayed and killed his father (the former chief of the tribe), though the orc who had committed this betrayal wasn't there.
Deciding to work together for the time being, they began to investigate the ruined temple. Raiya touched a (divination) magical shrine to the god Savras and was given a vision of the location of the white dragon's lair.
Meanwhile, Flicker and Wolfaen investigated the bell at the top of the shire and, after cutting it down, discovered that it was actually made of gold.
While Canarie was building a sled to transport the golden bell, the party got into contact with Toblen and discovered that Phandalin had been attacked by the dragon.
On the way back to the mine, the party decided to spend the night at Keth's family home. When they arrived, they discovered that the house was completely destroyed and found giant boar tracks (likely belonging to Talos' thunder boar that they had encountered earlier).
During the night, Keth heard his mother's voice and followed it to discover her spirit in the ruins of his home. They shared some mournful goodbyes before she disappeared.
On their watch, Keth and Gunmar commiserated over their respective losses and talked about revenge. Gunmar shared how he was raised by his father in savagery and violence while Keth shared how his mother had believed in him and inspired him to learn magic.
On her watch, Raiya discovered the remains of Keth's mother and dug a grave before waking Keth and helping him to bury her.
The following day, the party returned to the mine and Raiya told the wererats about the party's success at the shrine, which the wererats agreed to return to.
The party then set off towards Phandalin as an ominous, unnatural storm began to pick up around them.
