Parnast

Population 13,000 (Town)

Acomplished Quests
  • Dun Kuden - Large deposits of gems (mining the wrong side of the Valley) However mere men can only dig so deep. The most accessible way to the gem vein is through Dun Kuden. Had bad luck going in through the Ore’heim

Developments

  • Much nicer now due to Catnip teaching them how to harvest gems
  • Starts Past Over Parnast Festival of Food and Wine
  • Statue of Grandma Sheryl and the Fallen - “Eternal Remembrance”
  • Ceremony of Dancing Light’s by Priestess Chandra Stoor
  • Sheila Greenbow Library of Wondrous Magic

NPCs

Azam Voice: Catnip
  • Lean but strong half-elven man with a long face and still has his impressive muschtashe
  • He is actually on his way back to Parnast now from his hometown the City of Shade deep within the Anauroch Desert
Priestess Chandra Stoor, Priestess of Mielikki Voice: Cleanly spoken, short and to the point
  • Female half-elf with a short butch haircut with burnette hair and soft blue eyes
  • Has only been in Parnast for half a year, but has lived just outside of the village for decades. Until very recently, she occasionally came into the village to leave small offerings to Mielikki (gifts of bread, berries, and small sacrifices), but avoided being seen due to the presence of the Cult of the Dragon. With their defeat, however, she has taken up permanent residence in the shrine. She is very quiet; she rarely speaks and is more likely to shrug in response to a question than give a wordy answer.
Raggnar Redtooth Voice: Gruff southern accent
  • Tall heavyset man with enormous mutton chop sideburns who now walks with a limp from the attacks on Parnast
  • Son is named Chasen, dark black hair with piercing green eyes
  • He is trusting of Vorhees because of his background
  • Has a wife named Meredith who has a new child and is pregnant with another
Tim Forstenburg, Captain of the Guard Voice: Hello friends (somewhat proper)
  • Old Parnast is now a garrison
  • The Lord’s Alliance troops they sent to Loudwater evacuated here
  • Very grateful for this opportunity and his station in life. Trusts Voorhees, doesn’t like the steel predators
Voorhees Chance Voice: Wellllll, what do we have here? **cough** - raspy; disguise self to an orc with grey skin
  • Half-man, half construct. Much of his body, including his face has been reinforced with metal or stone. Wears a large green cape that covers up most of his body. He also wears a very unique amulet the connect to his throat, but has 2 skulls flanking either side. This allows him to speak. He also carries a wicked staff
  • Nomad from Loudwater - Had somewhat of a bad reputation with children
  • Has dozens of mechanical Tressym flying around
  • He is trying to build a tunnel underneath Parnast to tap back into the node that can take him to Bael’s Domain

Locations

Calder’s Perusing Provisions The smell of fermenting grapes meets your nostrils the moment you cross through the threshold of this establishment. Three shelves stand roughly 6 feet high in the center of the room, with the checkout counter immediately to your left as you walk in. More-so impressive is the back wall which contains barrels from floor to ceiling. In the back corner of the shop, there is a stairway leaning down.   Calder Scheilling Voice: Talks very fast and smooth, kinda shady businessman
  • Calder is a halfling and an enterprising merchant. He and his family run the trading post who Bolivar paid to have re-done; he has done very well for himself.
  Golden Tankard
  • Raggnar Redtooth’s bar which is much nicer now
  Iron Boot
  • The Iron Boot is an open faced forge. You can tell at one point it used to be a stable, but has long since been converted into a fully equipt blacksmith shop. There are various suits of beautiful masterwork armor hanging from the walls throughout out the shop but nothing of magic significance. On the back wall there is a doorway that typically remains open that leads into the back office that also serves as a small armory.
Rodric Scovar Voice: Aye, I dinna kin what the ought to do wit anything (Scottish - McDougal)
  • Hunched over burly dwarf with a big bushy red beard. Has soot all over his rough face. Has hands like a baseball glove. He bares a feint resemblance to Shane Tranter.
  • Ancestors were armor smiths in the Ore’heim.
  • He does not trust Voorhees chance 1 bit
  • He knows a bit about Voorhes’ workshop that he’s built underneath the gem refinery. Used to be open but now he keeps it locked up tight
  • Constantly creating new constructs, claims to be for the “safety of Parnast”
Gem Refinery
  • Located on the southwestern side of town close to the Crater of Parnast is the Refinery. What started as a modest shack when Catnip first began teaching the citizens how to mine for gems is now a massive stone 1-story structure that is partially built into a nearby hill. It’s proximity to one of the streams here in Parnast provides the Jewel Van Reimsdijk with water so that it does not overheat.
  • Main hall is a 50x50 dormitory for migrant workers. Resembles very simple barracks
  • Kitchen, long tables in the center, and bunk beds around the perimeter
  • Straight back is a stairwell that turns back on itself and goes down deeper into the the forges and workshops
  • In the back right corner of the room there is a singular door leading into Voorhees’ office. (Loot: 2,600 PP, 3,200 GP)
Shrine of Axes
  • This wooden building combines small shrines of several gods under one roof. The priestess of Milikee, Chandra Stol, has taken up residence within the shrine. She bakes fresh bread daily, which she gives away free and is also the one responsible for conducting the Ceremony of Dancing Lights every evening Four gods are represented within the shrine:
  • Auril (winter)
  • Chauntea (summer)
  • Mielikki (autumn)
  • More recently Sylvanus (the Old Oak)
  • The party saved these statues during the attacks on Parnast
Taerymoon Estate
  • The family was originally from Parnast but fled north when things started getting crazy with the arrival of the castle. They lived in the wilds but were known as a good farming family.
  • This now serves as a hotel/place for the party to stay when visiting.
