Smoldering Rivers
Mad Jack Dawkins's hub in the Dwarven Fortress of Mirabar visited initially in Session 56: Smoldering Rivers
Description
7x7 featureless stone room with a set of double doors on the north side and a ticket window encased by glass and metal fortifications. There is a beautiful human woman with a shaved head that says nothing, but just stares at them. 20x20 stone room, a set of double doors directly across the chambers. In the center of the room there is a long table with 2 benches flanking either side. Lining the walls on either side of the table are lockers. Anti-magic chamber - In all 4 corners, there these massive stone work constructs standing 18 feet tall with barrels as arms that are pointing downward at a 45 degree angle (each cannon deals 4d10 fire damage each round = 32d10 per round At the top of each wall there are sets of 2 giant stone cogs/gears (this is what takes them down to the bottom, takes about 5 minutes each way) Temperature significantly increases along the way down. When it arrives at the bottom the north door in this chamber opens up into a similar 7x7 room as there was above. Here there will be 2 people waiting (individuals that run Smoldering Rivers). This is a small reception area; the doors again to the north into the actual shop. Interior of Lower Level 20x40 rectangular room with 30ft. tall ceiling that is almost more akin to an eloquent ballroom. As soon as you open the door, a waft of cool air escapes, making the temperature comfortable again. When you walk in, immediate there is a pool of circulating water, forming a small vortex but above it is an incredible naturally formed and somehow perpetually growing chandelier that constantly drips into the pool below. Directly beyond the pool is a grand circling staircase that lead up into chambers above. The 30ft tall ceiling turns into a first and second story floor with 15ft. high ceilings. General meeting area with 4 doors into side rooms (2 enchanting chambers, 1 meeting, and a lavatory.) Large furniture, plush rugs are scattered throughout the room. Priceless pieces of art, credenzas equipped with full liquor bars, and corinthian columns flanking large bookshelves are along the walls The far north wall of the chamber there is actually a clear glass window the provides a full view of the Smoldering Rivers Arena below. Interior of Upper Level Smoldering Rivers shop; beautiful candelabras, similar corinthian columns flanking bookshelves There are nearly a dozen or so glass display cases with rare items and artifacts throughout the room - visible weapons or armor Counter on the far north end of the room and a counter/table on the east side Door behind the counter - Teleportation chamber and Jack’s personal office. Jack's personal office has a view of the Smoldering Rivers Arena East side counter is the jewelers half where Thort visits often to inspect gems. Smoldering Rivers Arena The south door in this chamber (when the elevator is at the bottom), leads to THE Smoldering Rivers which is an arena where people can brawl.NPCs
