The Malevolent plague postponed the novun empire losing the war, but the rune knights were just too strong.

With the assassination of emperor Gorm by the rune knights, there was no longer anyone strong enough to lead the already crumbling empire. With no second in command, infighting broke out immediately among the ambitious Generals. And with empire fractions fighting the firstborn linish alliance as well as each other, the empire remnants didn't stand for long.    Stories from thousands of witnesses from all three races confirmed the novun remnant was cornered to the north of Herelin. Before the alliance could march in and wipe them out, the Almighty took pity on them and fractured off the northern part of Herelin to spare those in the remnants of the empire that wished to repent. That place remains a nation to the north of Herelin to this day, they call it Nogundr.
