Floodriver
Sitting at the confluence of the Rivers Nadder and Wylve, Floodriver has been the market town for central Salisbury for as long as anyone can remember. Since the Roman built the walls surrounding it.This fortified city is the local market for the many farms of the Nadder River and the lower Wylye River.
More importantly, boats sail upriver this far, and unload their goods form the coast before reloading with local goods bound for the sea. The trade here gives a significant boost to nearby lords and to Bran’s Hill hundred. People from nearby hundreds, most notably Hillfort, come here often to get the resources they need for the winter. The finest carpets are weaved here.
The people here have been ruled by their own town council for many years, as the town is given by the King through Free Burgage, however, with King Uther's death, they have been forced to seek protection elsewhere, namely Sir Hywel daughter, the Lady Efa.
Government
- The City is ruled by the Town Council, however, due to old agreements, Floodriver Manor was given to Sir Hywel after Floodriver's charter as a market town was given to them after the Battle of Salisbury in 480.
Defences
- The old Roman fortifications are perhaps not as glorious as they once were, but they still hold up.
Industry & Trade
- Most people here are either crafters or traders.
Infrastructure
- The town has several piers, made for trade down and up the rivers.
Guilds and Factions
There are several large groups of people in Floodriver.
- The Collegia of Weavers, who have a lot of clout with the knights of the surrounding areas, as they attempt to keep to the old ways.
- The Wherrymen, those who freight wares, lead by a young and spry former peasant.
- The Carpenter Family, whose patriarch has been around for ages.
- The Masons, lead by the Widow Mason, everyone keeps an ear out for her.
- The Minter, who used to mint coins for the King.
