Templars of Michael
Templars, no matter which divine entity they pull their divine magic from, are revered as men, and women of great might, and often of great wisdom. As the name suggests, Templars of Michael pull their power from the first templar, named Michael Khanur. These divine soldiers are the rarest form of templar, as Michael's role in history has not been forgotten, but is largely overshadowed by the likes of Horoth, or Arotha. Unlike Horoth, and Arotha, it is not the draconin that seek his power. Those few that seek out his power, and wisdom consist of mainly Munren, and Brimbarians.
To gain power from Michael, you must swear his holy oath. That oath is to keep the peace wherever you may go, and only use violence as a last resort. In exchange, Michael grants you power that resides between that of Horoth, and Arotha. You gain powers of war lesser than Horoth, and powers of protection lesser than Arotha. What makes his oath worth swearing, is that it gives you powers of both sides, as opposed to great power of just one side. The longer a templar maintains his, or her oath, the more power will Michael granted. This rule applies to all templars, of all divine entities. Should a templar break their oath, in this case, if they fail to keep peace, their power will be stripped away instantly, with no hope of gaining it back from any divine entity.
Templars of Michael are extremely rare. While some know Michael's role in history, many don't realize that he has a place at Deos' side. They don't realize that they can gain divine power from him by swearing his oath of peace. What few do realize this are mostly kept in the dark by leaders of The Common Religion. They are not allowed to discus where they pull their power from, and are mostly used in law enforcement. As time has passed, and Michael's role in history has become lesser, and lesser known, templars in his name, though rare already, became rarer, and rarer.
Qualifications
Skill in combat above that of a normal soldier is required to come to Michael in prayer for this purpose. Once you make this promise to Michael, you will be judged by him, and must be found worthy of wielding his power. Like all of Eternity's divine entities, there have been occurrences where a templar in his name never came to him, but rather he chose them to wield his divine power.
Requirements
There is no written, or spoken minimal age, outside of the fact that a templar must have a certain amount of maturity that comes with age. The only races that have had templars of Michael are the Munren, and the Brimbarians.
Duties
Just as their oath said, it is the duty of any templar in Michael's name to maintain the peace. They are often assigned to law enforcement by their nation for this very reason. Any non-magical law enforcement officers call them "Dark Templars" because of their refusal to discuss which entity they pull their power from.
Benefits
They gain authority over the local law enforcement, and even the local military presence. They are paid generously in exchange for their silence in terms of where their power comes from.
Accoutrements & Equipment
They receive the highest in weapons, and armor, with Theosite equipment being quite common among their ranks.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
If a templar breaks their oath, in this case, if they fail to keep the peace, or if they themselves cause a major disturbance in said peace, Michael will take back what was given. They will lose their power, and will lose their rank.
Cultural Significance
The mystery surrounding these templars has prompted other nations to investigate. These investigations were to no avail. Most other nations have also given them the name "Dark Templars." The draconin in particular view the secrecy as strange, as they usually make their divine patron known the moment their power surfaces.
Alternative Naming
In more formal occasions, they are referred to Disciples of Michael. Non-magical law enforcement officials call them "Dark Templars" for their refusal to discuss where their power comes from.
Equates to
Their authority equates to that of the Knights Templar of medieval Europe.
Source of Authority
All action taken by these templars must be authorized by leaders, or preasts of the Common Religion.
