Power of Flora
Plants are easier to deal with than people. They make sense. They want water and sunlight and nutrients and not much else. People are way more complicated.Power of Flora is the ability to sense and manipulate the energy of plants and vegetation.
Disciplines of Flora
Agricultural Flora
Agricultural Flora focuses on the growth of plants and is usually used in the raising of crops for food and other utilitarian purposes. There is usually limited manipulation of a plants structure involved, focusing on the needs of the plants to grow effectively.Horticultural Flora
Horticultural Flora is a more experimental version of agricultural Flora. While this focus may also be on crops grown for food purposes, horticultural Flora involves manipulation of plant structure to create plants that may grow better or taste different, or to create an entirely new species.Aesthetic Flora
Aesthetic Flora is a discipline focusing on plant aesthetics, primarily flowers but also other plants grown for aesthetic purposes. This can include manipulation of flowers while still attached to the plant or after being removed for display in an arrangement. Some Florists specialize in topiaries and other forms of landscaping and tree and shrub pruning.Architectural Flora
Architectural Flora is another aesthetically focused discipline, but rather than focusing on individual plant aesthetics, it focuses on the use of living plants, usually trees, for architectural purposes. This discipline is less common than the others, practiced mostly in southern Leland and most famously in Ebonvale in the Vinato.Academic Study
Study of Flora vs Botany
It is important to not confuse the study of Flora with that of botany. Flora focuses on the manipulation of vegetative energy and the effects such manipulation can have on plants. Botany is the study of the physical nature of plants. While a background in botany is useful when employing Flora as it makes it easier to understand what changes to expect, it is not necessary. Botany is a fundamental course in higher education related to Flora.Places of Study
All disciplines of Flora are studied all over the world. Due to different native species and climates in parts of Leland, different places take different approaches to study and technique. Lace Twine University in southern Cesland is regarded as having the best Aesthetic Flora program in southern Leland, though the university focuses on all disciplines of Flora. Ebonvale Institute in the Halterre Islands is known as the primary authority in Leland on Architectural Flora as it is the only discipline it focuses on.Notable Green Thumbs
