Saráhlinel

Keeper of the Groves

Thank Saráhlinel that we've got such a lovely community here. There ain't a problem in the world that we can't solve when we all work together with glee in our hearts.
— A follower of Saráhlinel
Saráhlinel, the Keeper of the Groves, is the son of Lirúlinis, the Defender of Families, and an unknown mortal, according to the Pantheon of the Dawn. When his mother was pregnant, Heláia, his grandmother and the Lady of Life, blessed Lirúlinis so that her children could be born as gods. Saráhlinel was born with a fondness for the woods and took a liking to archery and fishing, eventually claiming those fields as his divine domain. He is also associated as the guardian of local communities, helping mortals form close bonds with their neighbours.

Builder of Bonds

Come, friend! Rest your legs on my stool as I bring you something warm to drink. You look famished! I better bring you a bowl of freshly hunted venison as well. I’ve got plenty to share, especially to those in need.
— A follower of Saráhlinel
Many of the old traditions that the alcheni have are connected to honouring Saráhlinel and fulfilling his will. Such activities are meant to bring people together so they can befriend their neighbours and work to benefit their local village or neighbourhood. Even animals are celebrated as folk bring guests to their farms to introduce them to their livestock and pets. These sorts of events are hardly ever celebrated as intended in major cities, if they’re celebrated at all. They require a great deal of trust and respect among the participants and therefore such old traditions now live on solely in smaller rural communities.

Cult of Saráhlinel

Followers of Saráhlinel are commonly found hiding away in their local communities, often actively taking part in organising community events and volunteering their time to serve their neighbours.   When they aren't building bonds and lighting bonfires, members of the cult work as hunters or fishers, often sharing their excess meat and fish with those in need. Saráhlinel's people are almost always loved by those fortunate enough to have one in their community, but there aren't many of them around as such a life of selflessness isn't for everyone.

'Even animals are celebrated as folk bring guests to their farms to introduce them to their livestock and pets.'   I love this so much. <3

Nice article! I would like to know what he and his followers do with people who want to disrupt communities. Do they prefer solving conflicts diplomatically or militarily?

Such wholesome domains for a god. And I like how specific they are, not broad strokes like peaceful living in general, but specifically for small communities and families. Though I'm willing to wager Saráhlinel doesn't mind harmony on a societal scale, either!
