Shadow Sprite

Biology

The Fae are divided in two groups: the malevolent Godless, and the enigmatic Fair Folk. Where the pixies are the archetypical small tricksters among the Fair Folk, the shadow sprites are their more malevolent Godless counterpart. They are pale and drab, with colors ranging from shades of gray to deep black. Their form is generally humanoid, with two to six wings on their back and vaguely insectoid features. They are much taller than pixies are on average however, standing at 2.5-4 feet (0.75-1.20m) according to eyewitness reports.

Intelligence and Social Behavior

They may appear as mischievous pranksters initially, but any prolonged encounter will soon reveal that they are deeply twisted and hateful beings. They delight in pushing people further and further, starting with something harmless that soon turns violent and nasty. They are weak creatures however and only target those weaker than themselves, unless they are accompanying a more powerful fae. Which is something they often do, frequently acting as helpful minions to more powerful Godless fae such as Hags.   While malevolent to others, they are usually not so bad to their own kind. They hate others for having more than they do, so they cannot truly hate themselves. Loyalty to their communities or their master is of the utmost importance to them.
