Amled, the Deity of Instinct and Despair
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Amled was born in the planet Lindrinor and was a byproduct of the creation of Durantia, the Goddes of Life and Kurema, the God of Death by Esquetet, the Deity of Entropy and Chaos. However, it was too weak on its birth and therefore it was left by Esquetet to fend for itself. While its siblings left with their creator, Amled stayed in Lindrinor, the place in which he survived, grew and eventually thrived.
The first years of its life were hard and difficult. Amled was defenseless and weak, but he managed to survive just the same. For it represented the Aspect of instinct and despair, the best tools for one's survival. With the millennia that would come to pass, Amled power and might grew in the same speed as life's evolution. Eventually, Amled made contact with the sapient creatures that first came to be in Lindrinor.
And it was one special that changed the Undying's fate forever. A Draconicus called Drak met Amled while hunting. Amled had been injured by a large creature and the kind draconus tended to its wounds. No one has ever done anything like that to Amled. He had never felt this in his life and now he had something new to cherish: a friend. The two of them became very close and started to live and hunt together. Drak did not know this, but just by living near Amled, she was starting to become a god herself. While all of her kind perished after few years of living, her life span was extended for many millennia to come.
On one particular day something happened that changed the course of history: an Elder God called Dondi came to Lindrinor looking for the Undying. When he found it, he claimed to be the Deity of Creation and that he came to the planet to seek a Fragment of Possilibility, one in which was probably inside Amled and that was probably generated on its birth. He said he needed that in order to create a magical force capable of reshaping the laws of the Universe.
Both Amled and Drak were most intrigued with this offer. Since they had nothing to lose, Amled decided to accept the offer, and the three of them together created The Arcana. The Undying provided the Fragment of Possibility while Dondi shaped it into the force now known as "magic". However, that force needed to reside inside someone in order to work, so The Undying decided to grant its long-life companion this great honor. Therefore, Dondi transformed the raw energy of the Aracana into a small multi-chromatic gem and inserted it into Drak's forehead. With that, the Dragons were created as a byproduct and the magic of these new creatures were shared with the Draconicus, allowing them to expel dangerous substances just like the dragons.
Some more millennia passed and the two friends started to grow apart. Drak began directing the draconic societies while Amled focused its mind into discovering more and more about the Arcana. It asked Dondi how best it could do that and he told that his creator, Honha, the Deity of Knowledge, could maybe aid Amled in this matter. Therefore, the Undying finally left Lindrinor, now more powerful than any other Elder God, for it had the Arcana at its side.
It eventually met Honha and the Withholder was amazed at both Amled's and the Arcana's existence. However, it told Amled that this new force called magic was not an exclusive thing to this plane. In fact, many other dimensions also had this power within them. The Undying was so amazed by that news that it, with the help of Honha, started studying and creating a way to travel between dimensions. Quickly enough, Amled created the Dimensional Magic and gained the ability to travel between the planes.
Which its what it did right after. It spent countless years visiting and knowing different worlds. It visited dimensions that contained swords made of pure light and a more religious form of Arcana; It visited realms in which other powerful and mighty gods dwelled; It even visited some places in which magical digital creatures existed. And after some more time traveling, it finally discovered an even more interesting place: in between the dimensions that it was visiting a place called The Void resided. It was said that countless savage and dreadful creatures roamed through that region.
Amled was, of course, incredibly curious by acquiring this knowledge and it focused all its efforts into finding a way to go to this place. Which it eventually did. Nothing was an obstacle for the Undying if it had enough time and the Arcana by its side. When it got to the Void it stayed there for millennia, studying and investigating these strange but wonderful (in its mind) creatures. However, by staying in that place, its beautiful body decayed and its mind drifted into insanity. But, he managed to create a magic so powerful capable of taming the dreadful creatures and manipulating the environment they lived in.
That gave him an even more gigantic amount of power. Its' story became known to all the gods and deities across all the universes of Existence. It stayed some more years in the Void when he decided to finally return to its own plane. It was time to check on its friend Drak and the rest the beings of Lindrinor. But when he returned, he saw a changed world: the dragonborns were now thriving alongside Drak and the Arcana, having built incredible societies in the process: the Ancient Draconic Empires was formed and they were reaching a magical and technological advancement never seen before in this Universe.
Unfortunately, this new world did not have a place for Amled. The tribal and savage ways of before gave way to the orderly and rigid modern societies. In this new time, the Undying wasn't even remembered and it had difficulty even to speak to Drak. In the few times it managed to, Drak was rude and sarcastic when speaking with the old friend. In fact, both of them were so drenched in power (and looking for more) that the two couldn't even talk without getting into an argument.
On one of the arguments, Drak banished Amled from all of the Draconic Empires and consequently of Lindrinor. The Undying was furious with that and decided to wage war against Drak and her kind. After that, it would take that war to Esquetet, her siblings and all of the living creatures of the Universe. But first, it needed to win against Drak. Thus, The Banishment War began.
After a long and bloody conflict, the dragonborns emerged victorious from the war (although they lost 99,8% of their population, along with most of the Dragons of the planet as well). On the end of that war, Drak managed to complete a ritual that banished the Undying to the Void for an infinite number of years.
However, Amled left something behind: The Forbidden Book was hidden in a place deep within the earth. Therefore, Amled spent the next 4 million years trying to connect with a sapient being in Lindrinor that would be able to reach the place and find the book. And it was able to do so in the year 395 BBE. A gnome called Tether Leantedor found the book while exploring the mysterious dungeon left by the Undying. When he read it, Amled was able to contact him and they've made a pact: Amled would provide him great power as long as he resurrected his ancient cult (called The Undying's Hands) and worked to release Amled from its banishment.
And that's what Tether did. Blind by the promise of power and glory, he spent many decades secretly converting the people of Lindrinor, making them worshippers of Amled. By the year 350 BBE he already had recruited many people and now there was only one thing left to do: summon Amled from its prison. Fortunately, the spell to create a portal between the void and a Dimension is contained within the Forbidden Book. However, that spell can only be performed under the energetic light of a supernova. Fortunately, once more, the light of one is about to reach Lindrinor.
Tether kidnapped an astronomer of the International School of the Keeper and forced him to investigate when would occur a supernova. And he acquired a date: December 28th.
