Book Burning
Act of the powerful to keep the weak ignorant.
It is worrying that I write to you my friend a letter about that which bothers me at the present. Today the guards turned the courtyard into a pyre, burning stacks of True Citizens pamphlets as well as a handful of books written in the hand of the original authors. Freedom goes up in flames with the pamphlets and with the books we lost something forever into the future that we can never regain.
Ashes of Thought
Book burning does not refer to accidents or environmental conditions that destroy texts - such as when the Aerie once burned - but to intentional destruction of written knowledge. When books are burned the ideas within are lost. Even if the person who wrote the book is still alive, the loss of each book reduces the reach of those ideas. Only people who already hold power burn books to keep knowledge out of the minds of those below them. An educated populace may be beneficial in the long run but they are also more likely to demand better pay, working conditions, and are even more likely to revolt.Stub Article

While the burning of books is almost always an act of evil, it can also be an act of rebellion. When posters, pamphlets, and books carry propaganda from the people in power, burning them isn't an act that takes anything away from people but one that liberates and sends a message from the people. Our mutual friend has told me of your plight. Fill your hold with everything you can get, bring it here, and we will see to the rest.
Well done! I love that sidebar note about burning propaganda.
