Sorter

Waste not, want not.

Long have people sought to use everything they have. Nothing went to waste. If it came to it, almost anything could be burned for warmth during the winter. Now our society is so prosperous - for some - that they simply toss away what they no longer need. Remember what they say about trash and treasure.

Picking a Prime Place to Pickup Past Possessions

Sorters are people who pick through that which others have discarded and every sorter has their own territory. One sorter even inadvertantly picking something up in another's zone has caused more than a few brawls in the streets and alleys. Anything that can be used is used. Whatever can be sold is sold. Everything else usually ends up in a pile or finding its way off the edge of Breharan.

A Job for Anyone

There are no qualifications, requirements, or restrictions to becoming a sorter, though it is a job done only by those who have hit hard times. In Burim, children are commonly seen digging through bins of rubbish - this sight has become significantly less common in Darapur since the Captain's Fund began operations.

Recycling

Many have noted that the amount of resources on any given skyisland are limited - even one as large as Breharan - and when anything flows or flies off the edge, that island is forever made lesser.   Some pioneering sorters have began using nets in the rivers to catch whatever may have been tossed into them before those items are forever lost to the Void below. In a way, they are preventing the slow demise of every society on Breharan.
