Abandoned Druid temple
Purpose / Function
A temple built to house a water elemental. The druids stationed here would spend their time worshiping, studying, and caring for the creature.
Alterations
Over time the druids who worshiped here created a lower level that served the purpose of housing themselves. There are rooms for rest, and places to store their belongings, a underground spring that they had turned into a bathing chamber, and a large gathering room where they would all eat.
Upstairs they added a storage room just off the main temple, and a scrying room where they would do their divination, spells, and store their gathered knowledge.
Architecture
This is an old building, the druids who had originally built this temple carved it directly from the stone cliff it is located in. There are hints of dwarven influence, but it is scarce and only noticeable if one is searching for it.
The stone had at one point been painted, shades of blues, whites, and greens can be found in faded murals throughout the temple. In the main room of the temple, where the elemental would have been located, the floor has patches of gemstone splashed around and the fountain in the center is made of marble, with a glittery golden tile along the bottom and the wall it is attatched to.
History
This particular temple dates back to before the great dragon war. The druids who lived here were of mixed races, mostly humans and wood elves. The elves had discovered the elemental living in the lake below the waterfall the temple is behind. They commissioned the dwarves to help build the temple. When it was finished they lured the elemental into the temple where they could keep it safely contained (for it's own safty as well as that of anyone passing through the area).
Their study of the creature drew the attention of humans who wished to study it as well. They happily accepted the humans into their circle, but when the war began, the humans turned on their elven companions and slaughtered them.
