Followers of Segomo
A religion based on the God of War Segomo. This religion is primarily seen in Gryerlth.
Mythology & Lore
When Prince Tybolt took control of Gryerlth from his father, he knew the country needed to be united under a single God. Prince Tybolt had already decided that the country needed to turn into a military power, and after praying for many days and nights, Prince Tybolt said that Segomo came to him and said, "Follow me into victory."
Prince Tybolt founded the first Temple of Segomo in the capital city of Kilerth on 16 Brims 1201. He left the daily care and overseeing to his newly appointed High Priest Gerard. It would be High Priest Gerard who would establish the tenants of the Religion.
Divine Origins
Segomo, originally a mortal man named Samuel Holland, is the founder and deity worshiped by the Followers of Segomo. After he led the assault on the heavens, Samuel ascended into Godhood and presented himself to the mortal realm where people were quick to follow him due to his strength and power.
Tenets of Faith
- A weak military is the sign of a weak country.
- A strong body and mind creates a strong link to Segomo.
- Honor and courage will always be rewarded even in death.
- Stand proud and Segomo will stand proudly with you.
Ethics
Segomo is against actions that are seen as deceitful, corrupt, or lacking in integrity. This has raised many questions due to the use of slavery in Gryerlth. The churches stance is that these lesser races need the help and guidance from the more knowledgeable races. Segomo gives his blessing to Gryerlth for their choice to use slaves; however no one is sure if he approves of how they are treated.
Priesthood
The followers of Segomo have one High Priest that is appointed by the current King of Gyerlth. The King choices one person to promote to this position. Each temple has its own priest that oversees the day to day operations.
Political Influence & Intrigue
Over the years each King since Tybolt has attempted to twist the Religion of Segomo and its Knights to fit its needs. In some cases the Kings have stayed very true to the core tenets of the religion. In other cases the Kings have twisted it to the point that they were forced out by the priests (though this was never the official reason given).
Sects
The Knights of Segomo are a massive sect within the followers of Segomo and make up some of the most devout followers of the church. Currently 3 of the 6 regiments within the Gryerlth military are Knights of Segomo regiments putting their numbers at approximately 150,000 members. There are talks that a 7th regiment is currently being assembled that will also be a Knights of Segomo regiment.
