“Billy's your friend, right?” he finally blurted.

Molly ground to a halt and gave him what could have passed for a smile North of the Arctic circle. “Who?”

Brand glared at her. “Billy,” he repeated. “I’m not stupid, Molly. What just happened?”

Molly sniffed and looked away from him. “She’s good for a laugh, at least. And a ride, even if her car is a dumper.” She leaned toward him to whisper conspiratorially, “It smells like old MacDonald’s fries.”

“What do you want, Molly.” Brand found his patience wearing very thin and he continued to glare at her, waiting for an answer.

“Want?” she asked innocently. “I just wanted to talk to you, Brand.”

“Perfect,” he snorted. “What do you think the Rams’ chances are in the playoffs?” When Molly stared at him blankly, he added, “I just finished a really great novel last week and can’t think of what to read next. Did you read anything good recently?”

“Read?” she asked and her voice was small.

“My aunt’s got tickets to see the Metro Ballet in New York this spring,” he continued. “I think they’re doing a Balanchine tribute again. She asked me to go, but I’d miss finals.” He glared at her hard and watched as she quailed a little, then looked away from her. “Y’know, I’ve heard some schools are talking about making cheerleading a sport. I dunno. It seems more about trying to look pretty and degrading each other than working as a team.” He let his eyes find her face again and almost smiled to see how pale she had gone. “What do you think, Molly?”

“I…”

“Do you think?” he added and then felt bad for pushing her because she burst into tears and fled back into the crowd of people. He slouched down in his seat and sighed. Now he was in a crappy mood again and she’d run off with his Pepsi.

Brandon was on the wrestling team in high school and stayed in athletic shape through college and into middle age. He tends toward stocky, though it's usually entirely muscle until he retires and starts to go squishy.

Special abilities

Brandon specializes in containment magic. He's mastered several different banishment rituals and builds lock-boxes for artifacts that can't be banished or destroyed. He's also skilled in capturing and binding spirits and outsiders.

Personal history

Brandon was born and raised in Oregon, part of an active, affectionate family of normal people. When he was in in high school, a group of local kids got into trouble with something paranormal and Brandon got a crash course in the Hunter side of things when he helped rescue them. Corvin Williams became his mentor and clued him into a lot of major connections, introducing him to the Lockards in 1992. Brandon hunted with Corvin for many years before going out on his own and remained a contact point for Charlie's generation of Lockards.
