Eira

Kara VanHolt (a.k.a. Eira)

One of the malevolent fairies known as the dokkalfar or dark elves. Eira is a ranking member of the Unseelie Court.

Personal history

Part of the reigning family of the Unseelie Court in Europe, Eira has spent most of human history as an occasionally malevolent force, worshiped by the ancient Norse as a minor goddess of healing and medicine. She acted as a battlefield medic during many human conflicts and all of the Seelie/Unseelie wars that happened along the edges of human-inhabited land. Starting around the beginning of the First World War, Eira began to lose her faith in humankind's ability to be supportive and non-destructive. Her interest with them waned and she became less helpful and more punitive and vengeful, culminating finally in her move to Bellona in 1888.
