Violet and black hissing aura gathers in your hands, smelling of death. Make a successful melee spell attack on a creature, and the aura transfers to the body of your target, opening gaping wounds open all over its body as its flesh begins to melt away.   The target takes 70 Necrotic Damage. The damage can't reduce the target's hit points below 1.   Additionally, the target must make a Constitution saving throw, or its hit point maximum is reduced for 1 hour by an amount equal to the Necrotic Damage it took. A Greater Restoration spell restores the creature's hit point maximum to normal before that time passes.   This spell has no effect on undead, elementals, and constructs.

At higher ranks: When you cast this spell as a spell of 7th rank or higher, the damage increases by 10 for each rank above 6th.
