Trophy

The White Dragon Ivory founded her lair in a place of freezing temperatures and profound solitude. She dug long, winding tunnels into glacial ice through which icy gusts could travel and very quickly grew tired of such things. When survivors of the old world came her way she ate them like she always had, until she noticed them working to improve her tunnels so the wind would make pleasant sounds as it traveled. When she came near them they gave her gems and precious metals. Ivory quickly delighted in her subjects, content knowing they know they belong to her now. They, and this place, are her Trophy. At least she's not so alone anymore.   The climate in Trophy is harsh. A biting chill of extreme cold envelopes everything, with near-constant freezing precipitation sometimes forming blizzard conditions outside the dome. Even on the streets a chilly fog lightly obscures the land. Locals know not to get too comfortable, as Ivory could move through any wall at any point without slowing down.

Testaments to Dominance

While the White Dragon favors gems and precious metals that mirror the cold sparkle of ice, the greater part of Ivory's hoard consists of trophies taken from defeated foes. Her favorite subjects are her fighters, who compete mightily against their rivals in Valor to prove they are the greatest. They have given her such trophies as mighty weapons or ornate regalia that are valuable treasures in their own right, but the White Dragon is not as quick-witted as her kin and has been convinced to accept worthless junk as great treasures worth rewarding. that being said those trophies became real to her after she hunted down and ate the tricksters.

Culture

Trophymen are vengeful people, if you cross them they will not forget. Some are even known to tattoo over their scars to ensure they can never fade or be forgotten. They're gruff, distrustful of fast talkers, and meet challenges with aggression even if they can't win. They delight in making others tremble yet feel protective of their smaller, weaker neighbors which makes them pretty potent sports fans.   Newcomers beware, locals are known to lure visitors away to assault and rob them. Their world is harsh and unforgiving, and so are they. They do whatever it takes to survive. Everyone else is either prey or a rival. But for their own, they provide warmth, family, and ice-cold drinks.

Government

The citizens of Trophy had to teach Ivory about government when they showed her what is possible when creatures put aside their petty needs in service of a greater goal. They use a modestly corrupt communist system of government.

Defences

Trophy is lit by mirror ice; icy surfaces that reflect sunlight down like mirrors, giving creatures in the lair other than the dragon disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide.

Points of interest

Frozen Stream. The city features a subterranean stream, now frozen over by the dragon’s presence. The stream spills down in stages over low, frozen cascades, creating an icy stairway.   Rocky Grotto. A rocky cavern dimly lit by blue light filtering through the icy vault high above. The largest of the dragon’s frozen trophies are scattered about the grotto.

Tourism

In the Rocky Grotto see:

  • A mammoth tusk engraved with images depicting the history of a nomadic tribe
  • A giant-sized cloak decorated with silver braiding
  • A wooden throne heaped with furs; any visitors must sit on the throne while Ivory recounts the grisly death of the seat’s previous owner
  • A huge wooden door carved and painted to depict a monarch enthroned with sword and scepter; Ivory occasionally raps the door with her knuckles, pauses, and then chortles, “Nobody home"
