The Council of Dragons

The First Gold Dragonborn Leonus Justus swung his longsword Defender against Daryl Berry, the First Blue Dragonborn. The First-Ever Dragonborn. They were divided by ideology -- the dragons rising across Bonner threatened to tear the nation asunder, but they could not agree to seal the dragons and their dragonborn away for what could potentially be the rest of time. In that moment, that burning battlefield, Daryl Berry offered his own solution; A Council of Dragons, where they could meet among their peers, settle their differences, and police each other's activity. Little did he know he was writing the basis for the New World order.   The Councilors, and by extension the dragonborn, formed the bridge between dragons and mortals. Through them the dragons were convinced to fight against the invasion Devil Legion and when truly dangerous wishes and Otherwordly Patrons emerged over the years, the Council intervened to protect the people. It's no wonder why people asked to live among the dragons' treasures in their lairs when they had grown from monsters to heroes in the peoples' eyes.   In the New World, the Council of Dragons operates as both the overarching government between the cities and an effective team of superheroes. They have their own military force in the Dragonguard who are dutybound to serve the dragons and protect their interests, valuing them over those of the people. There are monthly meetings of the Council, but the dragons themselves rarely attend, instead sending their Councilors in their place. In return the Councilors are given immaculate housing, a psychic link with their dragon, magic items of untold power to use in their arsenal, and great renown in the world. When a Bonded Councilor dies, they must be replaced by their Bonded Dragon. This process happens differently depending on the dragon, but those chosen are usually already among the highest levels of society; adventurers, scholars, politicians, and spellcasters. It is a great honor to be selected and an even greater honor to be remade in a dragon's image as their dragonborn.

The Elemental Exodus

At nearly 500 years old each it would be easy to call the elemental dragons old, but its important to remember they are still much, MUCH, younger than their counterparts. Peace and the Council left them bored, so they left Loom entirely for the elemental planes and the void beyond.
