Daryl, Danger, and Mirian escape Rainfall and meet Lawrence Aarden, the Prefect of the Steppes.

Danger and Mirian agree to spend the night in Rainfall, tending to Daryl’s injury. The area around it has turned an odd shade of blue, most likely an infection.   The party is awakened to find that a force of hobgoblins is aggressively scouting the town. The party runs towards a nearby alley, readying themselves for what’s to come. However, they are no match for the hobgoblin patrol and are forced to flee into the desert.   Not too long into their journey, they come upon a carriage guarded by a squad of paladins. They are introduced to Lawrence Aarden, the Prefect of the Steppes, and his companion, an Albino Elf by the name of Merielle, who seems oddly interested in learning more about Daryl and his scar. Danger connects with the prefect’s son, Franklin Aarden, and decides to teach this young fellow the strength to follow through on his desires.   Mirian and Daryl inform Aarden of the Blue Dragon. He doesn’t quite believe them, as dragons are merely myths, but they manage to convince him. They start brainstorming how to prepare for and fight such a beast.   That night a freak sandstorm hits and a duo of Galeb Duhrs attack the caravan. The party attempts to fight, but they are clearly outmatched. Daryl is struck down-- when his eyes suddenly glow bright hot blue, and The Blue Dragon soars down from the sky to destroy the Galeb Duhrs. She flies away without paying anyone any mind. Lawrence, alarmed by this, commands his paladins to arrest the party at once so they can be questioned upon arrival at Hearthstone City
