Criminal Activity
The Bog Bottom Boys took on a quest from Luneth to find her missing friend June. A quest that took the party from Bog Bottom to a downtown hotel to Titan's Ridge and family dinner then back again.
The Bog Bottom Boys answered a quest posted by Luneth at her home in Bog Bottom; the Tree House, a ramshackle women's shelter built onto a giant swamp tree. She didn't want to be presumptuous and go straight to Hex but her friend June hadn't come home from a job the previous night and wasn't responding on her sending stone. It was a sensitive subject because June was a sex worker. She was meeting a John in a hotel downtown; The Ravenloft. After being dropped off by their lizardfolk gondolier Dee Burke, the party flashed a Deputized Action quest they hadn't completed nor earned yet to speak with the staff. The maid who cleaned the room admitted to finding some blood and they found June's sending stone in the lost and found. She was able to identify the man June was with however. "Your new downtown weatherman, Dollus Rains!" Gle'n knew where Dollus would be soon enough, family dinner with his wife and the kids in town. The party figured they could split up, with sports celebrity Hex going to dinner to bolster Gle'n while the rest of the team went up to Dollus's house in the nicer neighborhood of Titan's Ridge to break in and look for clues. Almost as soon as they split up, Khev got a message for a team event and bailed on Gle'n. He arrived at family dinner all alone and looking the fool. That would not last, however, as Hex realized he could solve the problem with the simple donning of a Hat of Disguise. He turned himself into Khev, in full echo ball uniform, only wearing a top hat. The Schwartzs bought it. Mak was called away by his patron, leaving the Titan's Ridge neighborhood to Kai and Snell. The front gate guard wasn't amenable, so Snell snuck in through a canal entrance and Kai found some fence he could just hop over. Snell magically disguised himself as Dollus and the house unlocked itself for him. They rifled through his belongings and, although they found dirt on Crimson Masters, they found no evidence he did anything to June. Gle'n and Hex tried to get Dollus to admit anything in a myriad of ways. Eventually, Hex as Khev pulled him aside and just asked him straight up -- to which Dollus wholeheartedly recommended June and even gave away her contact information. "Here's a pro move, always pay for the gondola home." The party gathered back together and called another gondola, this time run by Dee's brother Jasper. His boat was a little dented up and they even found some bloody hairs in a seat. He says he personally picked June up the night before, but when he shows them the route he took her home he says nothing happened. "She was just on here sending stone the whole time." Jasper dropped them off and left. And then the party realized that couldn't be true because they had her sending stone. The Bog Bottom Boys went to Club World Tree since it was a gondola hub and met some gondoliers who knew Jasper and his tendency to pick up frail people. When Jasper finally did come around, Kai slid down the pyramid face and threw his axe at the lizardfolk! After the hit Jasper dove into the water to escape -- but before he could, Hex performed a perfect swan dive off the club's upper deck and used a thunderwave beneath Jasper in the water to knock him out. It didn't take much to get Jasper to talk. His family operated out of The Flop House, a one-time bar and community center that had fallen into the swamp. The party climbed up the rock propping part of the house up, but quickly drew the attention of Ma and PeePa Burke. The fight was quick and savage, with Lizardfolk throwing bites around and Pa popping out of the water halfway through with his gun at the ready. The Bog Bottom Boys discovered a whole bunch of people trapped to be sold as sacrificial lambs. They saved June and brought all the survivors to the Tree House, then they dropped off the Burkes at a Hunter precinct, just not the one their son worked at.
