Diego has been Brett Kinkade’s best friend since third grade. Coming from a devout Catholic Mexican family, he is as much the class clown as an ambitious, adventurous risk-taker, much to the chagrin of Benedictine Catholic High School’s faculty. Although he suspected something was different with Brett, he feels hurt and betrayed when he learns his best friend is gay—inadvertently adding to the estrangement his best friend feels from his family and peers.
