Between the frozen realm of Erinär and the old pine trees of the Forest Father lie the Nightlands. The land itself is cold and hard tundra with small groves of dwarf birches, small pines and gray willows. Water absorbs poorly into the ground, instead forming large ponds and small streams across the ruthless landscape.
During the First Age these lands of gloom belonged to Unno-Iara's tribe, the Nolyur. From the beginning of the Second Age, however, they were forced to leave for south, away from the spreading snow and ice.
