Emil

Emil is the nephew of Agnessa. He was initially discovered in the shape of a dog by the party of pilgrims on the way to the city of Dubno. The dog was uncanny, and seemed to understand human speech, and even to reply using gestures. The pilgrims soon discovered that he had been turned into a dog from drinking from a nearby pond. As they were heading to the Monastery of the Caves in an attempt to cure Ivan's own affliction (he had been turned into an old man by a vengeful spirit), they took the dog with them, hoping that he, too, would be healed. Dukh v Dymu took to calling the dog "Dukh Junior".
In Dubno, they met Agnessa, who revealed her own connection to the dog, and claimed she had come looking for him, so as to bring him home. She joined the party in their sojourn through the caves, and ultimately, located a stream, from which Emil drank (against her advice). Agnessa and her new companions brought the boy back home to his family in Potustoronka. On the way, he had fallen in love with Nadia, and with prompting from Marina, came up with a plan to get her to drink water from the same pond. His plan backfired, and he ended up drinking the water himself, becoming transformed into a dog once again. Agnessa is searching for a way to re-remove this curse.
